How to Choose the Right Cane Length?

Follow these easy steps to measure the ideal cane size tailored for you:

  • Stand Upright in Your Walking Shoes: Wear your usual walking shoes. Stand straight and relax your arms by your sides.
  • Measure Your Height in Shoes: Record your total height in inches while wearing your shoes. For instance, if you’re 5 feet 10 inches tall in shoes, that’s 70 inches.
  • Calculate Your Ideal Cane Length:Divide your height (in inches) by two to find the base cane length.
  • Add an extra half-inch for optimal sizing.
  • Example: If you’re 70 inches tall, half of that is 35 inches. Adding half an inch gives you a cane length of 35.5 inches. Similarly, for a height of 64 inches, the cane length should be 32.5 inches.

The measurement calculator can be found on each product page.

What are the differences in the wood types?

Oak:Rich in texture and color, Oak offers a timeless look with superior strength, perfect for elegant and long-lasting canes

Hickory:Crafted from the resilient outer layers of the Hickory tree, our canes exhibit a uniform, light-colored grain, embodying both a sleek, contemporary look and the inherent strength for which Hickory is renowned

Hickory with Heartwood:Our Hickory with Heartwood canes display a captivating interplay of light sapwood and dark heartwood, creating a striking natural contrast. This blend not only offers a unique visual appeal but also combines the resilience of both wood types for a cane that is as sturdy as it is beautiful.

Pure Hickory:Pure Hickory, sourced from the rare heartwood at the tree’s center, showcases an exclusive, deep-toned appearance, symbolizing both rarity and unmatched strength for a distinguished and robust cane.

How are the canes and walking sticks shipped?

Our canes and walking sticks are shipped via UPS Ground, ensuring reliable and trackable delivery. We also offer an expedited delivery option for those who need their cane sooner.

What is the function of the palm rest?

The palm rest is thoughtfully designed to enhance comfort and usability. Molded to fit the shape of your hand and palm, it allows for a secure grip, minimizing strain on the hand and wrist.

This design is particularly effective in evenly distributing your weight throughout the cane, offering better balance and control. It’s a great feature for those with weaker grip strength or conditions like arthritis.

Additionally, the palm rest helps in distributing weight throughout your body, relieving pressure off areas like a bad hip, knee, or ankle.

This makes the cane not just a support for walking, but also a tool for managing discomfort and aiding in mobility.

Love it

Exactly what I expected to receive after watching your videos. I really like the weight of the hickory, and I am carving and wood burning my own designs into the cane, which is what i'm looking forward to. I already added a paracord grip. Thanks

Raising Canes

Thanks for the two great canes. They will probably never see the inside of a Dojo but if a hog ever gets after me in the stock yard I'm sure
they will be sufficient for their chosen task.

Fantastic Dojo Canes!

I have purchased 3 of these canes for my family who are doing karate and learning the cane form. These are the best canes! Thank you so much Cane Masters!

Good quality

Very good quality. Solid to strike with. I practice with it and carry my other one when going out. It is a quality very strong work of art. I love both.

Bought 2 Dojo training canes with the nicer walking cane

My thought was to have 2 for training. I would have to enlist a volunteer. Also, one wet and nasty days out, to have a cane that is somewhat sacrificial. I might test a little shorter than ordered to see if I want to shorten my nicer cane. These practice canes as nicer than most drug store canes anyway.

Great Starter Cane

For personal stability I had begun using an old wooden cane from a used outlet. I wanted something better after viewing some Canemasters videos but was reluctant to just order one because of the cost and the many options available. But after being offered a DOJO cane I reasoned that I could evaluate a precise height using one of these no frill, reasonably priced canes. I really did not expect the wait time to receive it but it was definitely worth the wait. Beautiful in simplicity; quality construction of thick, strong wood; light weight; and a certain elegance for a basic cane. I did determine my ideal cane height should be a half inch shorter and I really want a palm rest. I then used that information as a foundation for a custom ordered cane currently being made. I will still use the DOJO cane as I plan to leave it in the pickup truck. As a side note I can say one thing I really noticed using a cane is that most people will open or hold open doors, allowing you to enter while they wait. Plus the rubber tip of a cane extends your arm to push buttons that open doors. Do like this good, solid basic cane that can be used for self defense training even though it is not.

Training Cane

I am very satisfied with the Cane. I even went along and put three coats of Tung oil and four coats of varnish on the Training Cane. It look’s very good now but it might defeat a little bit the purpose for using it for training. C’est la vie!!

My working cane

I use my dojo chain when I go somewhere that I would wouldn’t mind scuffing it up. It works great for me and I’m glad I have it. I have a fancy cane that I bought to dress up with.
